Research and Development Engineer
Position Summary:
Winpak Films, Inc., located 30 miles south of
Atlanta, Ga is looking for a Research & Development Engineer. Reporting to the Director, Technical isresponsible for the planning, coordination and execution of
research and development activities to commercialize high quality products in a
timely manner and to ensure Winpak Films Inc., maintains a competitive market
position.
Position Responsibilities:
- Establishes personal performance and career
development goals and objectives.
- Participates in the department goal setting,
technical team building and strategic planning execution.
- Responsible for planning and managing new
product development projects, including design planning, structure designing,
trial execution, process condition optimizing and commercialization.
- Coordinates and communicates with internal and
external customers for R/D activities with best responsiveness in mind.
- Monitors, researches and evaluates new
polymeric materials, new packaging technology and new process technology
for flexible packaging application.
- Responsible for R/D record keeping and
documentation and for updating and reporting R/D project status.
- Assists the QA lab in efficiency and quality
improvement, including technician training, test data interpretation and
reporting, document management.
- Assists the Sales/Marketing department in the promotion of new and existing
products through customer visits and presentation.
- Assists the Production department in trouble
shooting for product quality, process efficiency, productivity
improvement, cost reduction as well as customer complaints.
- Promotes
teamwork, cooperation, and effective communication within the department
and the Company. Interacts with all
levels of the operation in support of Winpak’s quality and safety program.
- Performs
duties and responsibilities in a manner compliant with ISO 9001 standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the
Manager, Research and Development.
Qualifications:
- Experience
working with medical and biopharma customers a plus.
- 3
- 5 years of experience in a flexible packaging industry quality role is
preferred.
- Experience
with continuous improvement processes, such as Lean Manufacturing and Six
Sigma is desired.
Experience & Education:
- A
BS degree in Chemistry, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or
other science based degree is required, with good technical skills and the
ability to be “hands on” with processes and products.
